I have always been a big fan of Tom Aikens.. The first time I try his creations were at the relax Tom’s Kitchen

But after I heard he has a gastronome restaurant with one Michelin star, I just have to try

Whats different here than from many other Michelin star restaurant is it relaxed and cosy atmosphere and not overly elegant like most fine dining restaurant.. Here its all about the food…

I first saw his gastronome work on the Great British Menu on the BBC and it looked amazing…. Tempted me even more to eat his creations

After seated, I was given a complementary mini starter of terrine and foie gras… This is fantastic! Savoury, creamy and sweet perfectly balance with the thin bread stick… Delicious….

Thanks to Toptable I managed to get the 3-course Lunch set with a glass of wine… What a bargain!

After you order, a complimentary “bread garden” is served with salted butter, mushroom and bacon butter.. All are delicious…

So then let see what I have to show you..

First up the hare cooked in three ways and grapefruit marinated salmon

My first time trying hare and it was rather good… Savoury, tender and yet not gamey as I thought it would be and the sweet corn and berries compliments it well… But abit too heavy as a starter… However, the salmon were incredible… Very fresh and clean flavours, the grapefruit give it that nice citrus aroma that is not overpowering and bitter.. A perfect dish..

For mains, chicken breast, config legs and peas and the john dory infused with mint, cauliflower puree and mint

The chicken was perfect…. Tender, moist juicy and pack full of aromas, sweetness and flavours.. A dish I cannot fault because the flavours are so balance yet it seems heavy but it is not…

The John Dory was also good, the infused mint really compliments it well in terms of scent and the cauliflower puree topped with crisp crumbs adds that crunchy texture that the dish needed.. A light and well balance dish

The dessert was amazing! Its a almond cluster of hazelnut mousse, praline ice cream and caramel jelly… The flavour notes make your mouth go crazy.. You get sweet, savoury, crunchy, creamy every texture you could think of.. A wonderful dish to end the meal

Tom Aikens restaurant is truly amazing, the food they offer and the price they charge is a bargain… Everything is fresh , modern and delcious.. A must try because I highly recommend!
