With the disappointment of not being able to try Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume in Cartmel, I just have to grab a bite on the way to the hotel

Bowness-on-Windermere is a town right before Windermere on the lake.. A beautiful town right on the lake.. And so suit this really good gastropub, the Angel Inn

The Angel Inn serves pub classics while offering specials and twist on all styles of food… So let see what we had

Starters I went for the daily special of mozzarella with peach and parma ham and bbq spare ribs…

Both really good.. Mild burrata with the acidic peach and savoury ham really goes well and the ribs falls off the bone…

Mains I got lamb with rosemary and mint jus, bacon chop with fried hen’s eggs and spicy tomato chutney

Also Cumbrian rib eye steak with peppercorn and blue cheese sauce

The bacon chop and the steak were really good but the lamb could have been abit more tender.. The flavours were all there and the chips are really nice…

The Angel Inn is a great place to grab either lunch or dinner.. With such beautiful weather, having food outside was just priceless..

If you ever pass by, give this place a try..
